From the judges: Carlson School of Management magazine for alumni and friends shows how a redesign can provide better structure for storytelling with an attractive layout and a good use of grid. Its layouts were intuitive and the spreads that intentionally broke the grid caught our eye and signified the story's importance. Attractive layout and good use of grid. Good balance of photo to text, and appreciate the cover and table of contents. There is a clear color palette throughout the publication. Layout and structure is intuitive and easy to follow.

About this Entry: Our spring 2020 issue featured a refreshed design that included an overall new design approach to the magazine. This refinements included modernizing the typography, providing more structure to the feature well and allotted more pages and visual prominence to two feature stories within the feature well. More use of portrait photography, illustration, and conceptual photography are meant to enhance feature as well as news stories.
